ICT Champion Award AND GOV.BT, Website Standards and Mobile Apps Launch

The Hon’ble Minister of Information and Communications graced the ICT Champion Award and GOV.BT, Website Standards and Mobile Apps Launch today.
4 Mobile Applications namely City Bus Service, Dzongkha Learning for Kids, M-contacts for Ministry of Education and Tourism, which were developed and produced as the result of 21 days intensive training conducted on “Android based Mobile Application Development with Java” by DITT, MoIC.
GOV.BT was launched. It is Royal Government of Bhutan’s online depository. The objective of the portal is to provide a single window access to information about Royal Government of Bhutan.
Also, to fulfill requirements to have a common standard for websites, Government Web standards were launched.The standard will assist all government agencies to focus on delivering information and services that are aligned to the needs of citizens and businesses and to ensure there is consistent approach to development and management of websites across the government.
The Ministry of Information and Communications started an initiative to recognize ICT champion every year since 2014.
ICT Champions are recognized for their extraordinary contribution to society through innovation in ICT and Telecommunications. The objective of ICT Champion 2018 is “To Promote ICT Adoption and Usage in Bhutan through identification and public recognition of outstanding leadership/entrepreneurship in ICT innovations.”
This year ICT Champion 2018 are to be recognized under three categories as follows:

EXCELLENCE IN MANAGEMENT
Prizes to the following ICT Champions were awarded:
Mr. Sonam Tshering, is recognized under Category​ ​1:​ ​INNOVATION, Sub​ ​category​ ​1​: Applications/Systems for his mobile application “Kids Learn Dzongkha” which is Dzongkha language game-based learning app for kids.
Kids will learn lessons in each level and their outcome is measured by attempting quiz, which contains real time images and induced voice of native speaker.
Mr. Tshering Choda, Vice Principal, Tingtibi Lower Secondary School is recognized under Category 3: EXCELLENCE IN MANAGEMENT for his —ICT initiatives in Tingtibi school.
